We worked hard on our chanukah books.
For our Blue Dreidel page, we painted blue paint using dreidels! For our Yellow candle page, we painted yellow paint using candles! And for our Red Menorah page, we first constructed the menorah using popsicle sticks and then finger painted it red. We colored our cover with crayons.
Being that Morah Bella wasn't here this Friday, we decided to make the challah dough all by ourselves. I will be putting the pictures into a book and sending home a copy.

Chanukah in school
We've been having a lot of fun celebrating Chanukah in our class room. We have been working on a Chanukah color book. We made donuts in a special donut maker and decorated them. We also have been lighting the menorah every day.

Chanuka prep!
We learned the story of Chanukah. We discussed the beautiful Beis Hamikdash and how the Jewish people loved it so much. We then learned about the King Anitochus who said the jewish people couldn't learn the Torah and do the Mitzvos we love so much. We discussed the Mitzvos we do. We help our parents, we share toys, we hug the Torah, we have shabbos party. We learned that the Macabees told Antiochus to go away! And they chased him away. Then they went back to their Beis Hamikdash and it was very messy and they had to clean it up. Afterwairds, they wanted to light the menorah and couldn't find the oil. They looked and looked and found the oil!
Here is a picture of the children with the different Miztvos we know about.

Chanuka in Prenursery
We began Chanuka preparation in our class this week.
We made a big Menorah for our bulletin using collage materials. We reviewed our three colors Red, Yellow, and Blue.
Then we started to learn the story of Chanuka. We learned that the Beis Hamikdash was a big, beautiful shul many years ago. We discussed the many mitzvos/good deeds we do in the classroom and how much we love doing them. We then learned that a long ago king wanted to take away our beloved mitzvos and the Jewish people didn't like it.

We really enjoyed our healthy juices from the juice bar! Thank you!

Fall trip
We had a lot of fun on our trip today. Because of some bus confusion, we ended up going to a closer park. We enjoyed going on a big yellow school bus. When we got to the park, we enjoyed playing in the leaves and collecting leaves. Afterwards, we played in the playground before heading back to school.

Learning about ourselves
We began learning about our bodies on Wednesday. We started by learning we all have a body. We all have hands, feet, head, and stomach. We then did the hokey pokey dance to review our body parts. Not only did the children have fun, but they also worked on their listening skills, gross motor and coordination skills. They also learned and reviewed their new English vocabulary words; body, hand, feet, stomach, and head.
Today, we began by coloring a picture of a child. The girls got a girl picture and the boys a boy picture. We discussed who is a girl and who is a boy.
By circle time, we learned about the parts of our face. Our eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. We also discussed what each body part does. We smelled cinnamon and nutmeg with our nose. We also said that we can listen to music with our ears. Guess what? After circle time, we met our music teacher and really enjoyed her music and movement songs.

Red art, Red shopping, and Red food!
We have been immersed in the color Red. We started our week painting our play dough and pouring red glitter on it.
Later that day, we review red and practiced our matching skills. Morah Perel put out three color circles and each child got a turn to match a red food to the correct circle.
We also went to the grocery store to look for red foods. Before we went we discussed how we are to behave in a grocery store. We walk with our feet, no running. Our hands are down by our sides and not touching anything. Our ears are listening to Morah. We did an absolutely super job!
On Tuesday, we began our day with a free art collage using red materials. The children learned how to use the glue properly and to open their minds to creativity!
After playtime, we got to taste the Red pomegranate that we had bought in the grocery store. Then we painted using the pomegranate seeds. This activity worked on their fine motor skills and helped them experiment with science.
